  • Silver Lining – poem

    We are mapped already

    It has been eons

    And things have changed

    So have we but can you tell?

    The clouds still cloud the sky

    Hiding the sun when he’s shy

    The winds still blow as fiercely

    Wanting to knock things down

    The sea still rages at all

    But is calm to some abroad

    And we still know anger and joy

    And love either, none or both

    We still welcome every day

    Trying to see a light in a sea of darkness

    We love and are loved by our dear

    Searching for hope and happiness

    But every single moment

    We realise something

    That life is not forever

    That everything will end

    But somewhere hidden is a silver lining

    Waiting to be discovered

    For in a world full of problems

    A smile can be found

    And in a world full of lies

    The truth can be found

    And in a world full of darkness

    Light can be found.

  • Little Things

    We tell ourselves to start a day with happy thoughts. We tell ourselves to be positive and smile every day. And sometimes we do succeed. We do succeed. But then it does happen. Something bad happens and our joyful spirit is crushed. And we look around us. There is no reason to get back up again.

    Life looks the same without us. But it is not. For someone or the other will feel your absence like a void and will come to help. Someone will come and do that little thing. Someone will come with a bouquet of flowers to brighten up your day just like that. Someone will come to meet you along with chocolates. Someone will take you to a movie. Someone will do that little thing and take the effort to make you happy.

    And we should do that too. We too, must take the effort to maybe compliment someone. To smile at someone. To offer them a seat on the train. To give them a flower you picked up. To hug them and say you love them. For without these little things, someone is falling inside.

    All it takes is a minute to wish someone, to greet someone, to say thank you. To help someone who might not need it. To make someone smile.

  • Out There – poem

    There is some place
    Far away from home
    Where peace can be found
    Where miracles roam

    And out there on the dunes
    Out there in the skies
    There is some place indeed
    Where one can hear your cries

    Beyond the infinite horizon
    Beyond our exploration
    Lies a land waiting
    To become a nation

    Out there above the clouds
    Out there beneath the seas, if you can tell
    Lie places we call heaven
    Lie places we call hell

    And here we are wondering
    If all those places are paradise
    Or are all those places a disaster
    Where we can’t find smiles

    But when will we come to know
    That every place is a roller coaster
    Sometimes rising, sometimes falling
    Innocent throughout life, though older

    And out there beyond the forest
    Beyond the fire
    Lie poverty, problems, pity
    But not desire

    And sometimes joy can be found
    Love can be found
    If searched for in true spirit
    If searched all around

    Out there beyond life
    Yet out here amidst life
    Lie lands we call home
    Lie lands we in thrive.

  • You – poem

    We are told everyday
    To be ourselves
    To be unique
    To think out of the box
    To do something new
    To seize the day
    To conquer ourselves
    To cross our limit
    To set the bar higher

    But life is complicated enough
    To even think about anything
    Life is full
    Full of feelings
    Stories
    Problems
    Decisions
    Dilemmas
    To even listen to anything

    And sometimes we are burdened
    By words and promises
    And we are crumbling under its weight
    At that time we are told to
    Be ourselves
    But myself would run away
    In fear maybe
    But we can’t do that
    We have to crumble
    There is no easy way out

    There are times when we are elated
    On top of the world
    When we are being ourselves
    But we are jinxed
    Immediately, like an alarm sprung up

    And we are buried six feet under
    Broken down
    We are told to build ourselves up
    And to be strong
    And to get on with life
    Forgetting about failure
    Aiming towards success

    But everything leaves a scar
    That never fades
    That eventually comes to define you

    And everyday we are given vague answers
    About anything and everything
    Some things make sense
    Others don’t
    There will be a day
    They say
    When the time comes
    They say
    You must be yourself

    But who am I
    And am I not just being myself
    As I live life
    Molding myself into different people
    Adding to myself everyday
    How do I label one person of myself
    As Myself

    For inside myself
    Lie millions of persons
    Awaking as one sleeps
    It is impossible to respond
    To only one.

  • Tremble – poem

    This life is so great
    That I tremble before her
    I cannot muster strength enough
    To stand up

    I feel like bowing down
    To gain guidance
    A path to follow
    Cleared of all hurdles

    I feel like asking
    The secret to living
    Without regrets pushing into my mind
    All the time

    I think I would crumble
    Had I done this
    For where am I
    If there is life?

    Life is vast
    Growing always
    Infinite
    Beyond myself

    And I am probably just so small
    To look up to life
    Without shielding my eyes
    Without feeling cursed

    But I tremble
    How I do
    At the very thought
    That life controls us

    And we give in
    For there is no choice
    That life can offer us
    Ever

    But only if
    Life were to look down
    And see me
    I would be glad.

  • Who We Are

    We often have the tendency to underestimate ourselves and others. We feel that we are incapable to do something. We feel that we are weak. That we cannot fight. We think we are living in fear and that we cannot handle anything.

    And it probably is true, but why must we believe that. Why don’t we take the leap? Why do we love to believe our own lies? And what good does that do to us anyway? If we think we cannot do anything, we just walk with our backs hunched and our heads held low. We lose all hope and all confidence.

    We need to learn that no matter whom we really are, we need to hold our heads high. We need to think we can do it. We must walk with confidence, for what have we to fear? What stops us from not minding who we are and juts being ourselves?

    Why can’t we just stop wondering what the world makes of us and just be our weird selves? What have we to hide? This is the best life can get. But maybe if we just believe in ourselves, then life could become better.

    And today, with all the climate change going on, the world seems to be getting sicker and sicker with every passing day. And we are probably wondering that earth might end. But what if we tell ourselves that the world might not end. It might not end if we leave our personal matters, quarrels. And if we start caring. Maybe if we believe and take action, thing can work out.

  • Harsh Harmony – poem

    This a poem about the harsher harmonies in life. It is about how nothing is perfect. About how every thing has no shape, but is shaped. It is painfully shaped, alloyed with harsher harmonies.

    HARSH HARMONY

    I was created

    We all were

    And more things are being created

    In our presence

    But it is astounding

    How each thing has edges

    How nothing is smooth

    How even the ocean has its waves

    The earth has its bumps

    Its stones

    How the winds are cutting

    Through life

    Each thing has been paired

    With a harsher harmony

    And it is up to it

    Whether it should accept fate

    Or break apart

    And many attempt the former

    Though the latter is tempting

    For edges are not a sight to see

    Nor are remains

    And we all have that harsh harmony

    Just there with us

    Always acting on cue

    Sometimes shocking

    Sometimes not

    And that is what makes us just break

    After looking back

    But nothing can be done

    Unless we accept our harmonies

    For only after practice

    Do harmonies sound real

    For only after imperfection

    Do harmonies come alive.

    How easy is it to stand still
    And not be affected by life
    By constant falls
    And rises and turns
    That life takes
    That we are eventually forced to take

    How is it easy to do nothing
    While everyone is upon you
    And turning against you
    In the circles of life
    While things are changing
    Every now and then

    How is it easy to stand still
    If life is in motion
    And is forcing you to be too
    If the skies are falling down
    To bow to earth’s divinity
    Must we bear the sky
    Or be crushed by it

    How easy is it for you
    To be still water
    If there are a hundred problems
    Revolving around you
    Will you allow them to disrupt peace?
    Or will you disrupt them?

  • A Tiny Window

    We live in a world where we are surrounded by invisible air. And this air just stays, sometimes cools. Everyday is a new beginning and we have learnt to see that. But sometimes the days are all the same. With no change. So how is repetition something new? How is old news new?

    Sure, everyday might seem the same. The same buildings will be lit up by the sun. The cars will always be passing by. People will always be crossing the streets. Routine will continue. But somewhere, you can find a tiny window. That shows you the world.

    If you calm down enough, you can let your mind wander. Maybe today a lioness gave birth to a cub and rejoiced. Maybe today the grass started to produce wheat. Maybe today a farmer’s face lit up at the sight of crop. Maybe today someone got a job promotion. Maybe today a genius was born. Maybe a future president was born. Maybe today an author found inspiration. Maybe today an idea was sparked. Maybe today the world moved on from its current position.

    And this may differ from day to day. For everyday is not the same. The roads will lead to the same place, but the journey will differ. And life and death will be inevitable, but reactions can differ.

    Space is granted

    To those who beg

    To those who never did

    Space is full

    Space is empty

    It is nothingness

    It is crushing onto me

    Like a pillar

    Wanting space

    To stand up straight

    But I can’t crumble

    For I need space

    For my life

    For why must I sacrifice

    Space

    For a pillar

    When that pillar means nothing to me?

    Space is free at times

    Space is not at times

    It is earned today

    By shows

    Fights

    Richness

    Poverty

    Tragedy

    It is earned too

    By death

    But space is not a full stop

    Space is open

    It is a sentence left hanging

    Midway

    For a lack of expression

    Envelopes space

    Lack of emotions

    Words

    Feelings

    Senses

    Will space be this empty

    Or will it become crowded

    Or will it just collapse?
