Feet dangling off a roof
Overlooking a city at night
Lit up, glowing,
A thousand lights, blinking their presence,
Burning away.
Will we last till the sunrise?
Soft breezes,
Above the noise and hustle
Away from company.
Will we swallow the stars
As we wait for the sun?
Nibbling away at pieces of divine might
Not worrying about the steady rush
Of life.
Pinking skies, soft brushes,
Eyes wide open, searching for
Stars as they twinkle out
Hopes as they linger
Reasons as they wither.
Feet dangling off of roofs
Overlooking a waking city
Are we awake?
Or do we sleep, as life envelopes us all
Into a giant embrace?
